Providing Quality Education

At Shepherd Community Center, it is our vision to see every child in our neighborhood learn to read and write so they can break the cycle of poverty. Because these children aren’t merely a statistic, a number, or a name; they are a smart, capable child in need of a hope and future. In our Shepherd Community Academy, 84% of students are reading at Grade Level, but we want 100% by 2028.

The beauty of Shepherd Community is that we provide quality education all year long through a variety of pathways starting from birth through college & career readiness. Programs like:

– Shepherd Community Early Learning Scholars – serving neighborhood children ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten to develop a love of learning from birth through all-day safe care.

– Shepherd Community Academy – fully accredited, faith-based, independent, non-public school for grades K4 – 5th

– After-School – Elementary program (K-6) providing homework help, tutoring, and enrichment clubs throughout the school year and in partnership with IPS.

– Education to Employment (E2E) – Middle & High School After-School program that helps empower students for future success through life mapping, homework help, and emotional support both at Shepherd Community Center and located at 3 additional partner IPS schools.

– Summer EXCEL (K-6) & YLIFe (7-12) – All day summer fun for over 200 students to fight learning loss, provide innovative learning, reading challenges, field trips, creative activities, college visits, employment, and more!
