What began as a small group of believers serving a Thanksgiving meal in 1985 has grown to serve over 10,000 unique individuals every year. As Shepherd Community transitions from our first 40 years into the next 40, we are focused on deepening relationships and expanding our ability to serve our neighbors right where they are through a capital campaign we’re calling The Ruby Project.
The Ruby Project is Shepherd Community’s commitment to the next 40 years of seeing lives transformed and futures realized. Driven by its namesake, the Ruby, Shepherd is building a future full of passion, love, commitment, protection, loyalty, success, devotion, and divine sacrifice. Built on the foundation of the first 40 years of serving our neighbors, The Ruby Project is about hope that extends beyond and through Shepherd and into the hearts and lives of our neighbors.
The Ruby Project will include:
– Shepherd Community Health & Wholeness Center
– Warrick Place Apartments
– Building Foundations of Hope, a partnership with Arbor Homes to build safe, attainable and stable homes
– Acquisition of Advance Auto Building at the front of our property to expand Shepherd capacity and programming
– Doubling the size of the Shepherd Community Academy
– Expanding the Center for Working Families
– Empowering Neighbors’ financial, emotional, and physical stability
– Partnering to support physical and mental health
– Increasing Shepherd’s impact on our neighbors and community at large to break the cycle of poverty and find lasting hope
