Hello. My name is Luz and welcome to Shepherd Jr. News. We are a team of eight journalists, that want to share with us, our audience, some of the behind the scenes activities and people at Shepherd community. The month of May is the mental awareness month. So for today’s newscast, we are going to interview various Shepherd staff members about the issue. Take it away, guys.

Sinai:
Why is being mentally healthy important to you?

Miss Kathy:
Being mentally healthy is important to me because of the relationships I have with other people. I want to do my best to encourage others and love others. Like Jesus says, go love others. I want to do that the best that I possibly can. So I make sure that being mentally healthy, that I don’t have other junk in the way for those relationships to be positive.

Azul:
How are you kind to yourself?

Mr. Ryan:
I like to take time out of my schedule to do things that I enjoy doing. Like, I really enjoy doing woodworking, building things. I like to take old things and make them look new again. I also like to spend time with my family. I have four kids. Can you believe that? Four kids drive me crazy. So spend time with my family and do things like I’m doing tonight. I’m taking my wife out on a date. It’s going to be fun.

Azul:
Oh là là.

Madi:
How are you kind to yourself?

Miss Bekah:
Well, I try to be kind with the words that I say to myself and how I think. So I try not to think negative thoughts that might not be true about myself. And then, if there is something that I need to work on and change, I try to think about it in a way that’s also positive.

Luz:
How are you kind to yourself?

Yaris:
How am I kind to myself? Do I hold this? I got it, I’ll hold it. No? Okay.

Mellanie:
How are you kind to yourself?

Miss Carissa:
I try to be kind to myself by saying really positive things to myself and trying to take time to relax after work, spend time praying or reading the Bible, things that help me relax and take care of my mind, but also my spirit.

Mr. Kolton:
How am I kind myself? I’m kind of myself in, I try to be physically fit as much as possible. Try to go to the gym, workout. I try to carve out time to intentionally spend time with my wife and with my family. And I try to say no to the things that aren’t going to make me a sharper human being.

Gizel:
How are you kind to yourself?

Miss Brit:
I am kind to myself in that I give myself time to just be me. Being around people who are encouraging and uplifting and also, I would say, kind talk and making sure that what I hear from other people and what I’m saying to myself is positive. How are you kind yourself?

Luz:
