Paula White:
The first three years of life is the biggest growth and development in a child.
Andrew Green:
I love who Paula is and the way that she connects with other families.
Andrew Green:
Project Jordan program is really focused on home visits. And so that’s a great opportunity to build a relationship with a family.
Paula White:
As of any relationship you have to build a trust, it’s putting in the time and effort with the individuals.
Andrew Green:
There’s over a hundred families that have been touched through project Jordan.
Paula White:
God places the people in your life that he knows you’re going to make the biggest impact on.
Andrew Green:
We wanted to have staff that would invest with new moms, dad, hopefully to talk about how they are their child’s first teacher and their really their best teacher.
Paula White:
Educating our young mothers and families with children three and under on helping them develop age appropriately.
Andrew Green:
The love that she pours out on her kids and grandkids. I love that about her and she’s able to take that experience and translate it to our neighborhood.
Paula White:
Shepherd was trying to encourage staff to move into the neighborhood we serve and I’ve lived in rental property. And I never imagined that I would ever be able to get into a brand new home. I’ve never had a home built.
Andrew Green:
As an organization, housing is a huge need in our neighborhood. And so we had the opportunity to partner with the fuller center to build some new homes. We talked about repairing a lot of homes, but we also had the opportunity to build five new homes in the community, just almost across the street from Shepherd in our neighborhood.
Paula White:
My home is being built at no cost to me and it’s done through donations and volunteers. This is even greater than I ever expected.
Andrew Green:
There’s some instant credibility that’s built in your relationship with people when you are from the same neighborhood, when you live in the same neighborhood.
Paula White:
When they started working on my house, I know the neighbors, they said there hadn’t been a new house built on this block in 47 years.
Andrew Green:
That was just a great blessing for her and a great opportunity to build deeper community within the neighborhood.
Paula White:
I think it’s going to have a bigger impact than just having the Shepherd community center here in the neighborhood.
