29 Jul VIDEO: Partner Update
Hi, I’m Andrew Green. I’m the Assistant Executive Director here at Shepherd Community Center, and we just wanted to be able to share with you today about what a great summer we’ve had here at Shepherd, and I have a few friends that are going to join me and share that as well.
We had six weeks this summer of programming where we got to invite 120 kids to be a part of what was happening here at Shepherd, and it was extra special this summer because we partnered with United Way and The Mind Trust to be a part of the Indie Summer Learning Labs, where we had six teachers in each of the classrooms to share academically with the students and ramp up what they were learning over the summer so they could start back to school on a great note.
In addition to all of that, we had Bible time, arts and crafts time. We had some incredible STEM activities. We had worship time together. It was a great summer. Our older kids even had the chance to receive a stipend and do some financial classes. They did a robotics camp, and they even got to go on some special club activities where they partnered with Purposeful Design and City Life Wheels. Let’s throw it over to some of the kids to hear from them.
My favorite thing to do in the summer is go swimming.
My favorite thing about summer was the zoo.
My favorite thing about summer is the tug of war.
Something that we did over the summer that I liked was going with Straight Up to all of their field trips, like when we go swimming in the lake and having fun activities with them.
My favorite thing about summer is going to getting wet, to the pool and splash pads. That’s my favorite thing about summer.
