Jay Height:
Each day each week brings a new challenge. And one of the things that we are working on in the five challenges that we’re trying to address is the medical needs.

Jay Height:
We are partnering with the great folks we have in this city. Eskenazi, IU Methodist, Oak street who are partnering with us with EMS who are helping us meet the medical needs of our neighbors. Just last week, we were able to talk with the medical director of EMS who is helping provide information to our families. So we can disseminate that out. You can click on and watch that video if you would like. But let me tell you a little bit about what we’re doing. We’ve repositioned our paramedic to be working in the homes of those folks who have chronic health issues. But right now can’t go to the doctor that they can’t go see those who they would normally see for their medical care. We’re helping make sure that their medicines are being filled and, and going to pick them up for them and taking them there. We’re working with volunteer doctors, both retired and active who are helping also connect with our families through a telemedicine.

Jay Height:
Well, it seems so simple. Telemedicine has come through in this last package and it’s important for us. And so a role we’re playing today is educating our neighbors, how to access Medical care through telemedicine. And what does that mean?

Jay Height:
I am 54 years old and I can do technology because I have kids who teach their dad how to do it. Well, we have to do that for our neighbors. And we are doing that. And our paramedic being in the home of helping determine that we’re raising funds to be able to buy blood pressure cuffs so that they can be taking their own blood pressure automatic so that they can maintain making sure that they’re checking their blood sugars. These are all the things that we must do to make sure our neighbors or stay out of the ER, during this very difficult time with the Corona virus.

Jay Height:
I’m thankful that we’re here and we’re going to continue to work with partners like Oak street, who are working with many of our neighbors, who are older and on Medicare and making sure they’re getting the care they need. And making sure that we’re getting food into the homes, we’re there to address their medical needs. It is a changing field that seems to move minute by minute. But I want you to know that we are here for the long-term. We’ve been here 35 years and we’ll be here continuously. Yes, we look much different than we did just a few weeks ago, but we are going to address that the needs of our neighbors medically together.

Jay Height:
We need your help and thank you for caring. And we are thankful for the great partners we have. If you’re going to be sick, this is a great city to be sick in because we got that some of the best medical professionals, and we’re going to help be that connection to make sure our families have access to that as well.
