Jay Height:
Some say the unemployment rate in our neighborhood is 45%. It has been hit hard and the challenge for our neighbors who’ve primarily worked in the service industry is great. Our plan in the road to recovery is to help retool them, give them the skills and the training necessary for them to move forward, to find new employment, and to continue to move forward. So that’s what we’re doing. We’re continuing to support them. We’re working with Thomas P. Miller & Associates to help put together this jobs pipeline plan that’s helping adults and exploring new areas for us of partnerships with many different government agencies and businesses who need employees and helping prepare our neighbors for success in employment.

Jay Height:
It isn’t that we just want them to get a job. We want to help them keep the job and continue that support. We want to set them up for success. And so next Wednesday night on our Facebook Live event, we’ll be talking with one employer who has hired someone from Shepherd and what that’s been like for them. And we’ll be talking to Tom Miller from Thomas P. Miller & Associates about what they’re working on for us. And he’ll give you a different insight, but there’s a lot of details, but just know this, we have to help our families. And we’re going to help them and we’re going to continue to support them and we’re going to move them to employment. We’re on the road to recovery, won’t you join us?
