Hello my name is Azul and welcome to Shepherd Jr. News. We’re a team of eight journalists that want to share with you, our audience, some of the behind the scenes and people at Shepherd Community Center. The past month, we had an incident where one of our Shepherd mascots went missing. Let’s find out more to the story with our reporters in the field. Take it away, guys.
Madi:
How long has Nugget been in your classroom?
Ms. McCrary:
Nugget has been in the classroom as long as I have. I brought him the very first day I started here and he’s been there pretty much ever since.
Speaker 6:
Did you know hamsters can store food in special pouches in the cheeks?
Yanis:
When did you know Nugget was missing?
Ms. McCrary:
My kids were taking a quiz on Friday and I just wandered over there and I started digging around in his bedding and there was no Nugget to be found. We kept our cool, didn’t say anything to the kids until after they got through all their quizzes. But yeah, once they found out it was kind of mass hysteria.
Luz:
When did you know Nugget was missing?
Marco:
Since I think it was October, I mean November 1st.
Luz:
How did you feel when you found out he was missing?
Marco:
I felt nervous and scared he’d get lost.
Yanis:
What was your worst fear when he didn’t turn up by the weekend?
Ms. McCrary:
All the doors were open and I was afraid he got outside. I was a little bit worried that maybe like a hawk would get him. Probably the second biggest thing I was afraid of is that some kid picked him up, put him in their pocket to take him home.
Speaker 9:
Did you know hamsters teeth are always growing?
Luz:
When did you find Nugget?
Marco:
Actually, Ms. McCrary found him the day, November the second.
Luz:
How did you feel once you knew Nugget was safe?
Marco:
I felt like he was home and he’s back where he belongs.
