Jay Height:
Thank you to each and every one of you. Jane and I are so appreciative of all of our colleagues here at Shepherd Community and the great work that you’re doing. You see some of you here behind me. Many of you are doing amazing things in this very turbulent time. We’re talking to some of the other experts in the city to try to get an understanding, and what we feel at this point, we’re going to continue to stay in this mode of heavy relief through probably most of the summer is what they’re suggesting to us. While COVID-19 might begin to fade away, at least temporarily, the economics of unemployment are going to hit our families hard. They’re saying maybe 50 to 60% unemployment in our neighborhood. So, the need for food is going to continue to escalate. The work that each one of you is doing is going to be essential, the social isolation.

Jay Height:
But we’re not going to stay here forever. We’re going to move to a road to recovery. And you’re going to be hearing more about what that looks like. You’re going to see changes as we want to make sure that we can be educating our students, whether it’s in school or out of school time. The summer camp will look different. Our ministries are going to continue to evolve. But we’re not done. We are on the road to recovery, and we’re going to need your help. And one of the ways you can help us is making sure if you’re around anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, that you self quarantine and do not come here. Think of all of the other folks that we need working and making sure that we can minister to our families.

Jay Height:
You’re going to be hearing that we need to close our breakroom. That’s an effort to make sure that all of you are safe. We’ve got our masks. You need to make sure that you’re wearing your mask and gloves if you’re outside engaging with our neighbors. We need your help. We’re going to do this together. We’re going to stand together six feet apart.
