BUILDING ACADEMIC SUCCESS
Shepherd Community Academy

Building academic foundations

Shepherd Community Academy serves children from preschool through fifth grade with small class sizes and wrap-around support. The Shepherd Community Academy Preschool is a Paths to Quality Level 3 program, and our elementary school is fully accredited. Since opening in 2000, the Academy has cared for the spiritual, physical, social, and academic needs of kids on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis—offering them a strong foundation for future success.

ACADEMIC RESULTS

Giving children a strong start

The Academy carefully chooses curriculum that focuses on foundational skills like reading, math, and problem solving, while also offering enrichment in the arts and sciences. All of our materials meet rigorous academic standards. As a result, our students consistently test at or above grade level, and the vast majority pass the I-Read assessment on the first try.

PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION

Supporting children as they learn

Our teachers make sure that every child at the Academy has the instruction he or she needs to thrive and develop in every subject. Each student receives personal attention, and a plan to support their academic progress. An active group of volunteers also connects with our students on a weekly basis, building relationships through reading, games, and activities. The Academy’s nurturing environment helps students develop a love for learning and the confidence to keep improving throughout their years at school.
