Virtual Gathering 2022
How Shepherd is working to Re-Neighbor Our Hood

Our 2022 Gathering was enjoyed by hundreds of Shepherd supporters on November 2, 3, & 10. Executive Director Jay Height hosted Zoom calls with special expert guests on how Shepherd is Re-Neighboring Our Hood, sharing how we are working together to address the core focus areas our neighbors need to break the cycle of poverty.

For those who could not attend or want to re-watch, below you will find all recorded Zoom calls, addressing all six core areas:

Engaging Deeper in our Neighborhood and Supporting Physical & Mental Health

This video shares how Shepherd is advocating and navigating alongside our neighbors to meet their physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic needs through authentic relationships. It will also highlight how Shepherd is fighting the epidemic of loneliness our neighbors living in poverty face on a daily basis. By building relationships with our neighbors, we can help them live long, healthy lives of hope!

Providing Quality Education and Feeding the Hungry

This video shares how Shepherd’s educational plan not only combats learning loss but gives students of all ages opportunities to thrive. Seizing those opportunities is dependent on our neighborhood students and their families having proper nutrition and access to healthy food. But, feeding the hungry is about more than just food. Feeding the hungry is about meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic needs our neighbors face daily. School is just one the many ways we ensure our neighbors are not going hungry. Meeting physical hunger needs leads to knowing and connecting our neighbors to the resources to meet other critical needs through Shepherd programming.

Ensuring Stable Housing and Empowering Neighbors to Acquire Sustainable Jobs

This video shares how Shepherd is helping our neighbors find and maintain stable housing and employment. Stable housing creates a sense of safety for children and adults, both physically and mentally. In empowering job stability, there is no one-size-fits-all plan and takes time. Shepherd accomplishes this by building a personal relationship with each neighbor, job training, educational courses, coaching, and helping them find the job (and career path) that fits them.
