When a family finds stability, children can build a future filled with hope.
At Shepherd Community, we care for the whole family—not just our students. Through support for hunger, housing, health, education, and employment, we walk alongside families to build lasting relationships that help them overcome challenges, find hope, and break the cycle of poverty.
“Shepherd gives us so much—friends, teachers, help when we need it, and a family.”
That’s what Shepherd looked like for Veronica and her family.
Seventeen years ago, after finding sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), she and her husband were encouraged by a friend to enroll their son, Kyle, in Shepherd’s Summer Programs. Veronica worried they couldn’t afford it – but Shepherd made it possible.
Kyle, followed by younger sisters Karol and Kelly, grew up connected to Shepherd through After-School and Summer Programs. Veronica saw first-hand her children grow in confidence, experience opportunities their family couldn’t otherwise afford, and develop a passion for learning and serving others.
And Shepherd supported the whole family along the way – from transportation that helped both parents work, to food when money was tight, to trusted friendships and community, to care and encouragement during difficult moments. “Shepherd gives us so much—friends, teachers, help when we need it, and a family.”
Today, Kyle is pursuing a marketing degree at Ball State University while serving in the National Guard. Karol dreams of becoming a teacher, and Kelly dreams of becoming a military doctor or surgeon.
Blessings. Heart. Family. That’s how Veronica describes Shepherd.
“Shepherd is my family – they are my brothers and sisters.”
Then, Veronica asked a question every donor should hear:
“My kids are miracles because of Shepherd. My family is together and happy because of Shepherd. If you continue to support Shepherd, can you imagine how many miracles Shepherd can make possible now and in the years to come?”
Your generosity makes those miracles possible.
Give today. Strengthen a family. Change a future. Because stable families create stable futures.
