Summer is a time for adventure and learning! Through our Summer EXCEL & YLIFe programming, Shepherd does just that every summer for over 200 neighborhood students grades K – 12.
Shepherd Summer programming provides a safe, adventurous place for students to learn, grow, eat, and excel all year long! It is also an opportunity to make a life-changing difference in students’ lives through Christ-centered mentoring relationships. Because the foundation of every future is through quality education—and summer is a season where that future can truly take root and thrive.
How? Through incredible opportunities like:
– Field trips to the Indy Zoo, farms, pools, and more!
– Participating in summer reading challenges through our on-site library
– Innovative Learning Labs to help students grow and expand academically in a way that is unique to their learning style and needs
– Visiting college campuses
– Exploring career opportunities
– Making new friends
– Hearing about the love of Jesus through Bible, worship, and intentional one-on-one time with Shepherd staff, interns, and volunteers
– Eating a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack every day
– Learning through play, hands-on, and new strategies for math, science, reading, and writing
– One-on-One mentoring relationships with college students from around the country
