Help students EXCEL at Shepherd this summer!

Shepherd students entering grades 1st through 12th are improving their academics in a safe, fun environment this summer. We are helping children not just catch up on academics but EXCEL at Shepherd!

Since summer learning loss unequally affects students living in poverty, Shepherd works to help students catch up and be more confident in the classroom. Shepherd’s goal is to maintain our achievement of 91% of students reading at or above grade level, a goal which can only be achieved through additional, intentional time at Shepherd and our Summer EXCEL programming.

Summer EXCEL serves our elementary students entering grades 1st – 6th, while Summer YLIFe serves middle and high school students entering grades 7th – 12th. EXCEL focuses on fun academics, while YLIFe focuses on college and career opportunities. Regardless of grade level, Shepherd Summer Programming develops meaningful, mentoring relationships for an entire summer. As a result, over 200 students will experience learning, opportunities, and meaningful relationships this summer that will have a life-long impact

This summer, Shepherd students will experience activities like:
