Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving at Shepherd was such a joyful time. We held our Thanksgiving events on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd.
On Saturday, we celebrated the holiday with about 700 of our neighbors. We held three big praise services (one of them for our Hispanic neighbors) each followed by three big dinners, with turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, veggies, and plenty of pumpkin pie.
On Sunday, November 23, those families and more—1,300 altogether—received a Thanksgiving food basket. Many of those baskets were delivered right to their doorstep. CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE PHOTOS FROM THE DAY IN OUR PHOTO GALLERY
A lot of preparation went on behind the scenes for these programs. Cleaning, cooking, set-up, tear-down, serving, cleaning, transportation, delivery, and more cleaning were all cheerfully taken on by our volunteers. On top of all that, there were even volunteers that stuffed envelopes and sorted canned goods.
To every single one of you who took part, we’d just like to say thank you, whether you came individually, or whether you were part of a big group, like the ones that came from Westside Church of the Nazarene and Indian Creek Christian Church. On behalf of our neighbors, thank you; we appreciate your help so much.
